Part of Computer Power Supply

1. AC-IN Socket
AC socket is the entrance begi AC voltage grid into a string of power supply modules. Contains the 3 pin AC socket, which is 2 pin for AC voltage and a pin to ground. Grafting Ground on the computer power supply is very important to neutralize the voltage SMPS leak in the induction process.
Voltage leak is not deadly to humans but can be a shock and danger to computers is that it can cause electrical shock to the motherboard that can make a motherboard hangs.
2. SMPS modules
SMPS module is the main part of a computer's power supply. This module contains a series of processing the input AC voltage into DC voltage. In SMPS module there are two power supply unit that is Stand-by Power Supply and Main power supply.
Stand-by power supply produces +5 VDC output voltage with a current of about 2 A to the needs of stand-by voltage for the motherboard. Stand-by power supply to life the first time the computer is connected to the grid, so it does not depend on the independent control of the motherboard.
Main power supply produces a voltage output required by the motherboard and other computer parts. The output of the Main power supply voltage of +3 V3, +12 V,-12V, +5 V and-5V. Main power supply could be alive if there is a trigger of the motherboard, in other words this is what life Main supply if the computer is turned on by pressing the power button.
3. DC output socket
DC output socket is a socket connector which contains a DC voltage output of the SMPS module. These sockets are several kinds, namely:
* 20 +4 pin connector to the motherboard. This socket contains the voltages required by the motherboard. Description of the socket pin 20 +4 pin:
  • 4 pin connector to the IDE hard disk and CD / DVD. The socket contains a red wire (+5 V), a yellow wire (+12 V) and 2 black wires (ground, 0V).
  • 4 pin connector to the motherboard to the VGA adapter (AGP / PCI-E). This socket contains 2 yellow wire (+12 V) and two black wires (ground, 0V).
  • 4 pin connector to the floppy. The socket contains a red wire (+5 V), a yellow wire (+12 V) and 2 black wires (ground, 0V).
  • 15 pin connector to SATA. This socket contains a voltage +3 V3, +5 V and +12 V.
4. FAN Cooler Cooler FAN serves as a cooling unit to remove heat that appears on SMPS module. The heat that occurs primarily on semiconductor components such as diodes, MOSFETs, and IC.
In fact on the module cooling of SMPS existing aluminum plate, but because the structure of the power supply casing which is closed then the heat can not be thrown out completely and should use a Cooler Fan sebuaf assistance.
5. Casing Power Supply
Power supply casing made of metal with a view to protecting computer parts other than electromagnetic wave induction (EMI) effects of process switching SMPS.
